One employee at the Ocean Pines Yacht Club was taken to an area hospital for evaluation after a hazmat incident Tuesday afternoon. The Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Department was called just after 3pm for a chemical spill in the kitchen at the Yacht Club. Everyone was moved out of the building while the Worcester County Special Hazards Response team evaluated the incident and identified the chemicals involved and how to mitigate the situation. Officials found an employee accidentally mixed two chemical together creating a hazardous atmospheric condition in the building. The solution was isolated to a small area, neutralized and the building was ventilated. The Yacht Club was later reopened to the public.
