Worcester approves salary increases for county workers

Worcester County Commissioners approving salary increases in an attempt to retain the county’s workforce. Coast Dispatch reporting wages for workers in jobs like maintenance and road crews will increase between 50 cents and $1.20 per hour. Human Resources Director Stacey Norton proposed the plan in January after she had trouble filling nearly 40 vacancies county-wide. The measure passed by a vote of 5-2, with Commissioners Chip Bertino and Jim Bunting voting against the pay increases.
