Woman Killed In 2-Vehicle Crash North Of Milford

A 31-year-old woman is dead following a collision between the car she was driving and a parked bucket truck.

The accident occurred on Bay Road (Route 1) north of Milford. According to Delaware State Police, the southbound car drifted off the roadway just south of Old Cemetery Road Sunday afternoon and smashed into the back of the truck, which was stopped and had its amber lights flashing.

The driver of the car, a resident of New Windsor, New York, died at the scene. The Comcast / Xfinity truck driver, who is 56, was treated and released at Bayhealth Sussex Campus. Police said he was properly restrained in the vehicle.

The woman was traveling with a dog, which was being cared for by the local SPCA.

Route 1 southbound in the area was closed for about three-and-a-half hours because of the crash and investigation.
