Woman Arrested For Drugs & Weapons Offenses

A Seaford woman faces charges related to drugs and firearms that were found in an unregistered vehicle.
According to Seaford Police, the woman told police she had applied for registration with the Alabama DMV, recently moved to Delaware and showed a pistol permit from Alabama, which had expired upon a person establishing out-of-state residence.
Police said 38-year-old Amy Hignutt told officers that a firearm was located in a backpack, which was found to contain a loaded .38-handgun. Another 9-mm handgun was found on the back seat.
Seaford Police also said a further search of the vehicle turned up a small baggie that contained suspected crystal methamphetamine.
Hignutt is charged with carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a deadly weapon while possessing a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and motor vehicle offenses. She was released on unsecured bail.
