Wicomico County Council candidate arrested for DUI
A Wicomico County Council candidate arrested Tuesday night; police say 51 year old Julie Brewington of Salisbury was driving drunk. Police responding to a single vehicle crash on Jersey Road near Adkins Road around 8:30 Tuesday night; the officer finding a car in a ditch driven by Brewington.
Reporting an “overwhelming smell of alcohol,” Brewington was also said to be slurring her speech and uncooperative. She told the officer on the scene she had veered off the road after getting a phone call. She was arrested at the scene, refusing to comply with police requests to sign paperwork related to a DUI arrest.
She was taken to Central Booking for processing and later released on personal recognizance. Brewington is charged with using a handheld phone while driving, speeding and driving under the influence. She filed to run for the county council post in January; primaries are in June.
