A crash involving a pedestrian and a Delaware State Trooper is under investigation by State Police. Just after 5am a State Trooper was northbound on Route 1 approaching Dartmouth Drive with a green light when a 67 year old man from Lewes in a motorized wheelchair tried to cross Route 1 within the cross walk. The pedestrian failed to obey the signal and moved into the path of the Trooper’s Tahoe. The trooper tried to avoid the collision, but struck the wheelchair – ejecting the pedestrian. The victim was taken to Beebe Medical Center and is in stable condition – impairment on his part is not known. The Trooper was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.
