WGMD Fishing Report 9-26-22
Monday saw no boats run from Lewes Harbour Marina or Fisherman’s Wharf.
Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em reported that a few private boats fished Indian River Inlet and the ocean just outside the Inlet and caught red drum and blues. No bait was mentioned, but I would suspect that mullet or lures that matched a mullet, would have been used by at least some of the successful anglers. They also saw a 22.5-inch flounder caught out of the rocks at the inlet.
Old Inlet Bait and Tackle said Indian River Inlet was the place to be. Sheepshead and tog were caught on sand fleas by those who were able to drop their baits directly into the rocks. On the beach it was blues in the 14 to 20-inch class on mullet. No report of red drum from the beach, but they have to be there. Try mullet or blue or green crabs.
I have never caught a red drum from the surf in Delaware and I am chaffing at the bit to do so.
