WGMD Fishing Report 5-6-21

Thursday saw small craft advisories up in the morning so very few boats went out.  Friday looks good with light southeast winds and seas less than two feet.

Deanna at Hook 鈥榚m and Cook 鈥榚m checked a 21-inch flounder for Taylor Brewington and a 19-inch flounder for Jake Prosino.  Both caught in the Back Bays.

Old Inlet Bait and Tackle, has their Spring Surf Fishing Tournament this Saturday May 8.  Anglers can register as late as 7 AM on Saturday.  The cost is $30 for adults with kids 14 and under free.

I think most anglers will be interested in the new pending world record redear sunfish.  Thomas Farchione was fishing a nightcrawler on a drop shot rig in Lake Havasu, Arizona when he had a solid hit.  He was somewhat surprised when he landed a 6.30-pound redear sunfish.  The old record was 5.78 pounds caught in 2014 from the same lake.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD Fishing Report.
