WGMD Fishing Report 5-11-21

Tuesday saw much lighter winds than predicted, but very few boats left the dock. There are small craft advisories up for Wednesday morning, but they are supposed to come down by the afternoon. There is still hope for the weekend.

At Lewes Harbour Marina, Tommy said the only fish they saw all day were some tog brought in from the Outer Wall on a private boat.

At Old Inlet Bait and Tackle the report was good fishing for shad at the Indian River Inlet with shad darts or Speck Rigs still the top lures. Big rockfish have been caught from the inlet on large swimshads from Storm and Tsunami. Almost all of these fish are way over the 35-inch maximum and have been released. Anglers have connected with these big fish under the bridge and at the South Jetty. Incoming water has been the best time to fish. Big rock are also caught on bucktails bounced along the bottom during slack water. The reports indicate that jetty jockeys catch one or two big rockfish a night.
