WGMD Fishing Report 4-24-18
Monday saw decent weather, but the wind picked up as the day went on. Tuesday and the remainder of the week don’t look promising. Water temperature at the Lightship Buoy is 49.3 and at Lewes it is 51.8.
Amanda at Lewes Harbour Marina said the Katydid came in with a catch of tog, but no citations.
The Upper Bay has given up a few keeper rockfish on bloodworms and bunker. Most of the rock were shorts, but the occasional keeper has been landed. Some rock were caught from boats chunking bunker at the Pipes, Bull Pen and 6L Buoy. Others came from the shoreline at Green’s Beach, Dobbinsville, Woodland Beach and Augustine Beach. Shore casters are using bloodworms and bunker.
White perch are in good supply at the deeper holes in the tidal rivers and creeks as well as Augustine Beach and the pier at Woodland Beach. Bloodworms are the best bait for perch. A few big catfish have been caught from the same locations on bloodworms and bunker. The ponds hold bass, crappie and pickerel. Trout fishing remains good in New Castle County.
