WGMD Fishing Report 3-30-19
Friday proved to be the best day of 2019 with temperatures in the mid-70s and Saturday should be even better. Don’t ask about next week.
I went to the fishing pier at Massey’s Landing to test my hypothesis that winter flounder had returned to Delaware. I fished the last of the outgoing current and the first of the incoming drowning a dozen bloodworms and catching exactly one horseshoe crab. So much for my winter flounder idea.
A few other hopeful anglers came and went while I was there and if they caught anything I failed to see the result. The water was very clear, but very cold. Even with the black headed gulls back and the dogwoods blooming I don’t think the summer flounder have arrived.
The Fish Bound out of Ocean City had a very good day on Thursday bringing in a boat limit of tog to 10 pounds and releasing several large females to 14 pounds. I suspect they were back out again on Friday.
Lenny Rudow’s Fish Talk reported big snakeheads in Blackwater Refuge on live minnows fished under a bobber.
