WGMD Fishing Report 3-29-19

Thursday was a bit chilly, but the wind fell out a bit.  Friday looks good and Saturday will be warm, but windy.

No reports from ocean going boats, but I did get a good white perch report from Dan’s Tackle Shop.  Jay Jones fished from his small boat in the Broadkill River and had a very good catch of white perch including some big fish.  A few small rock were mixed in the catch.

With so many small rockfish around it would be a good idea to use non-offset circle hooks when fishing with bait.  Circle hooks prevent deep hooking and make the release process much easier and safer for the fish.

I spoke with my son Ric in Virginia Beach on Thursday and he said the tog action at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel has been very good.  Do not bring green crabs into Virginia.  They are considered an invasive species and will get you arrested.

I also spoke with Chris at Chris’ Tackle in Cape Charles, Virginia to find out if the first flounder had been caught.  It hasn’t.
