WGMD Fishing Report 11-28-19
Wednesday saw gale warnings up in the afternoon so boats did not take any chances and remained at the dock. I did get a late report from Tuesday. The Grizzly with Captain Cary Evans had a good catch of sea bass and porgies from ocean structure.
If you enjoy fishing for summer flounder, I hope you are sitting down. One of the ideas being considered for new regulations in 2020 or 2021 is a coast-wide season from May 15 to September 15 with a slot limit of 17 to 20 inches. This would pretty much be the same as a total moratorium on flounder in Delaware. While we could live with the short season the slot limit would kill us.
It has been hard enough to put together a catch of flounder over the current 16-inch minimum size. With a 17 to 20-inch slot the chances of taking anything home would all but disappear.
And what about flounder tournaments? This would be the end of the Flounder Pounder and the Joe Morris Memorial.
This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
