WGMD Fishing Report 10-5-19

Friday saw small craft advisories up and it looks like they may remain up until Wednesday.  This often happens when the seasons change and we just have to live through the wind and hope it brings some good fall fishing.

Shore fishing will be the only option this weekend with Indian River Inlet, the fishing piers at Cape Henlopen State Park or at Massey’s Landing and several access points along the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal available.  I would suggest mullet either fished whole or in chunks for blues and trout.  If you wish to target triggerfish, sheepshead or tog, try sand fleas or green crab.

The offshore windmill company will be bringing their power cable ashore at Fenwick Island State Park.  The company has offered to do over five million dollars’ worth of improvements to the park as a show of good faith.  The improvements will include a new bathhouse and more parking.  I was unable to attend the meeting on Wednesday evening, but from what I have read this sounds like a win-win situation.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
