WGMD Fishing Report 10-18-21

bill-o

Monday there was a definite chill in the air as the temperature stayed in the 60s and the wind was out of the northwest at 15 to 20 with small craft advisories flying on the ocean. Tuesday will see a northwest wind at 15 to 20 knots again with three to four-foot seas. Wednesday the wind will go west at 10 to 15 knots with gusts to 20 and NOAA says the seas will only be two feet or less on the ocean. Not sure if I believe that.

The only fish I have to report came from Old Inlet Bait and Tackle. They said small blues were caught from the beach on mullet. Small tog were caught out of Indian River Inlet on sand fleas and green crabs.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has released the 2021 Young of the Year report for striped bass in the Chesapeake Bay. This year the YOY was 3.2 which is well below the average of 11.4. This is the third year the YOY has been below average.
