WGMD Fishing Report 10-16-19

Tuesday was a beautiful fishing day with light winds and clear skies.  The rest of the week is a washout with high winds and rain.  Looks like Saturday before anyone will be out on the ocean or bay.

Tommy at Lewes Harbour Marina said the Katydid came in with 60 black sea bass caught over ocean structure.

Captain Carey Evans on the Grizzly was on his way back in from the ocean when I reached him by phone.  He told me he had a mixed bag of sea bass, triggerfish and blues.

At Old Inlet Bait and Tackle the report was a fair number of short tog caught on sand fleas and green crabs out of the inlet with a few keepers mixed in the catch.  The surf was slow with only a few blues and short rockfish taken.  Those who fished the surf said the beach was like quicksand.

A surf tournament held in New Jersey over the weekend attracted almost 200 anglers, but only produced a handful of striped bass, all released.  A few keeper tog were caught from jetties.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
