Volunteers Needed to Count Bats in Delaware!

Training for ‘bat spotting’ will be held on Thursday, May 3rd at the DNREC Aquatic Resources Education Center in Smyrna.  Volunteers are needed to help locate bat roosts and count bats in the First State as they leave their day-time resting areas.  The training is for both new and experienced volunteers.  They may look creepy, but bats are important to the ecology – feeding on millions of insects – including mosquitoes, beetles, moths and agricultural pests.  If you’re interested in volunteering – contact DNREC to reserve your spot.
