US Wind to Meet with Bethany Beach Friday

US Wind will hold a meeting in Bethany Beach on Friday. The purpose of that meeting is twofold: first to review and discuss a contract for “Community Benefits” being offered to Delaware’s coastal communities by the US Wind Corporation. This Community Benefits Package includes a stream of annual payments over twenty years, worth two million dollars to each town. These payments would begin if and when US Wind begins construction on its first project, MarWin. Specifically, if Bethany Beach participates, the Town will receive $100,000 per year over a 20-year period. Payments will start when construction begins. The MarWin wind farm is located south of Bethany Beach and off the coast of Ocean City, Maryland.

The meeting begins at 2pm, Friday, January 12 at the Bethany Beach Town Hall.
