UPDATED: Both Marijuana Bills Pass in DE State Senate – Waits for Gov Carney’s Signature
March 28, 2023/
House Bill 1 – the marijuana bill has passed in the Delaware State Senate. This measure would remove all penalties for use or possession of a personal use quantity of marijuana and marijuana accessories. The vote was 16 to 4 with 1 absent.
House Bill 2 – also passed in the State Senate. This is the finance bill that regulates and taxes marijuana for recreational use. The vote was 15 to 5 with 1 absent. Two amendments filed by Republican Senator Eric Buckson were defeated.
Both measures are no awaiting action by Governor Carney who vetoed legal marijuana last year. It’s not known if he will again this year – although both the DE State House and Senate have a majority that could override the veto.
