Two Juveniles Arrested After Chase in Stolen Car in Claymont

Two juveniles have been arrested after Delaware State Police spotted a Volvo with Pennsylvania tags speeding on Darley Road in Claymont. Police attempted a traffic stop after a computer check showed the vehicle was stolen on November 19th. The driver refused to stop and police chased the vehicle which was traveling at an unsafe speed. The Volvo turned into a private parking lot and the driver and front passenger ran off on foot. Both were eventually arrested after a brief chase.

Police arrested a 16 year old boy from Lewes and a 15 year old boy from Claymont. The juveniles were taken to Troop 1, where they were charged with the following crimes:

16-year-old juvenile

  • Receiving Stolen Property Over $1,500 (Felony)
  • Disregarding a Police Officer Signal (Felony)
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Criminal Mischief
  • Multiple Traffic Violations

The 16-year-old juvenile was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and released to a guardian after posting a $5,000 secured bond.

15-year-old juvenile

  • Resisting Arrest

The 15-year-old passenger was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and released to a guardian on an $1,000 unsecured bond.
