UPDATED: Tractor Trailer Driver Cited in Crash on Roth Bridge
UPDATED – 5/9/19 – 10am – A Pennsylvania man has been cited after a crash Wednesday that closed the southbound lanes of the Roth Bridge for several hours. Delaware State Police stopped to assist the driver of a disabled Dodge at the crest of the bridge. A second trooper stopped to assist as well. One trooper was in his vehicle when a tractor trailer struck the second trooper’s Tahoe causing a chain reaction crash. Both troopers and the driver of the disabled Dodge were taken to Christiana Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer – a 47 year old man from Warminster, Pennsylvania was charged with inattentive driving.

UPDATED – 11AM – All southbound lanes on the Roth Bridge have been reopened

A crash just after 4 this morning closed the southbound lanes on Route 1 on the Roth Bridge.聽 Delaware State Police say two troopers in separate vehicles were stopped in the southbound right lane with a motorist who was out of his vehicle.聽 A tractor trailer in the southbound right lane struck the rear of the first unoccupied cruiser causing a chain reaction crash.聽 Both Troopers were taken to Christiana Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.聽 The driver of the tractor trailer and the other driver were not injured.聽 The southbound left lane is open, however drivers will experience delays and should take an alternate route.
