UPDATED: DSP Identify Woman Killed in Delmar Train Crash on Friday
UPDATED – 5/5/18 1:20pm – Delaware State Police continue to investigate a crash between a train and a Ford Focus which left 22 year old Raelyn Huffman of Delmar dead. Police say the Focus was eastbound on Bacons Road. The red railroad crossing signals were flashing and the bell ringing. For unknown reasons the driver of the car drove onto the tracks and was struck by the train. The vehicle came to rest in a private yard. Police say Huffman was not properly restrained and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Engineer and Conductor on the train were not injured.

UPDATED – 12pm – At least one person has died after a collision between a vehicle and a train just before 9am near Bacons Road north of Delmar. Delaware State Police say the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Bacons Road and crossed onto the tracks and was struck by the train. The driver of the car has been pronounced dead at the scene and Bacons Road remains closed as the investigation continues. The NTSB have been notified and Delmarva Central Railroad officials are on the scene.

Delaware State Police are on the scene of a crash between a train and a vehicle that occurred just before 9am. The crash has closed Bacons Road near Delmar – between Powell Farm Lane and Country Walk. Emergency personnel from Delmar, and Laurel are on the scene. This is the second crash involving a train this week – Tuesday night a pedestrian was struck by a freight train north of Georgetown at Douglas Street.
