Talk of Delmarva Fishing Report 5-7-23
Saturday saw some good weather and much better fishing.
Hook 鈥榚m and cook 鈥榚m reported a pending new Delaware state record for tog. James Milano of North Babylon, New York caught the 22.9-pound tog while fishing aboard the No Limit with Captain Jon Azato. They were over ocean structure. The old record was 21-pounds, 7.7 ounces set in 2022 by Captain Brent Weist.
Lewes Harbour Marina reported that the Katydid, the Sea Jay II and the Surface Tension all ran to ocean structure and all returned with a catch of tog. Private boats had flounder out of the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal.
At Old Inlet Bait and Tackle we finally had a good report from the beach. Surf casters had striped bass, bluefish, kings and black drum on Saturday. The usual baits would be sand fleas for the drum, cut bunker for the blues, bloodworms or Fishbites for the kings, bunker, sand fleas or SP Minnows for the striped bass.
