Talk of Delmarva Fishing Report 4/5/23

I am happy to report that we are finally getting there. The water temperature at the Delaware Lightship Buoy has reached 48.9 and it has crossed the magic 50-degree threshold in Lewes and stands at 50.2 degrees. I really expect to see the first flounder caught out of the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal by the end of this week.

I do have a surf report, but unfortunately, not from Delaware beaches. My friend Bill Weiss caught a nice black drum from the beach at Chincoteague, Virginia. The Coastal Fisherman reported that Jeremy Zimm had another black drum at 145th Street in Ocean City on sand fleas that he dug himself and Fishbites bloodworms.

The No Limit ran out to the tog grounds in the ocean and fought a hard north current along with a strong south wind to put 14 tog in the box. Richie was the pool winner with a 15-pound,11-ounce tog, a personal best for him.

This is Eric Burnley with your Talk of DelMarVa Fishing Report.
