Special Events Zone Underway in Ocean City

As of Tuesday, a Special Events Zone is in effect on Coastal Highway in Ocean City, all part of the 29th annual Cruisin’ OC event.

The special zone, in effect on Coastal Highway and Philadelphia Avenue (MD-528) started on Tuesday and will remain in effect through Sunday. Speeds will be reduced and violators will face increased fines. Officers will be strictly enforcing all traffic laws, that includes for locals. Spectators are urged to keep the sidewalks clear of pedestrian traffic and should not incite the spinning of wheels or “burn-outs” by motorists. Officers will also enforce laws for spectators who incite drivers, and cite the drivers for violations as well.

Thousands of car enthusiasts are expected in the resort town for the Cruisin OC event. The Ocean City Police Department will receive assistance from Maryland State Police, the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police.
