Serious Crash Involving Motorcycle in Magnolia


A motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries following a Friday night accident in Magnolia.

Delaware State Police say the incident happened around 9:41 p.m. on Sophers Row northeast of Blue Spruce Drive. A Honda motorcycle traveling southbound on Sophers Row approaching Clapham Road struck the rear trunk area of a Lexus 300 sedan as it was backing out of a driveway.

The motorcyclist, a 23-year-old male from Magnolia was ejected. He sustained life-threatening injuries and was flown by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit to Christiana Hospital. A helmet was located at the scene however it is unclear if the motorcyclist was wearing it.

The 29-year-old female driver of the Lexus nor her 33-year-old female passenger of Dover were injured. She was cited for Improper Backing.

The roadway in the area of the crash was shutdown for approximately three hours while it was investigated and cleared.
