Selbyville Man Claims One Million Dollar Lottery Prize
Delaware Lottery officials say a 79-year-old man from Selbyville matched five white balls during the March 2nd POWERBALL® drawing, winning $1,000,000 before taxes. The man, who wished to remain anonymous, purchased two Quick Pick POWERBALL® tickets from the Goose Greek in Fenwick Island.
“I won $500 before, but obviously nothing this big,” the man said. I checked my numbers on the website the morning after the drawing. I couldn’t believe it.” When asked what he was planning to do with his winnings, the man said he’s still deciding what to do – but for now, he’s just happy to have it in the bank.
After taxes, Lottery of the man took home $760,000. The man claimed his prize from Lottery Headquarters on March 18, 2019.
The jackpot for Wednesday’s POWERBALL® drawing has an estimated annuity of $550 million, making it the 8th largest POWERBALL® jackpot. The cash option is an estimated $335 million.
