October 25, 2019/
A Seaford man who tried to avoid arrest by driving off from a traffic stop in June of 2018 with the trooper hanging onto his vehicle has been sentenced to 4 years in prison. A trooper stopped 30 year old Brandon Showell for running a stop sign, but as the officer approached Showell’s SUV, Showell put it in gear and began to move. The two struggled and Showell pushed the trooper from the vehicle – then Showell got out and started to run off on foot. He was arrested after a short chase. Showell pleaded guilty last month to 2nd degree assault and other offenses. Besides the prison time, Showell was also sentenced to 6 months of work release followed by 1 year of probation.
