SEAFORD MAN CITED FOR LANDING PROHIBITED SHARK
June 29, 2019
A Seaford man has been charged with landing a prohibited shark species. DNREC officials say 65 year old Jay Katz landed a sandbar shark while he was fishing at 3Rs at the Delaware Seashore State Park on June 11th. Katz was released – but his surf fishing permit has been suspended pending an appearance in the Court of Common Pleas at a later date. Sandbar sharks are one of several species that are prohibited in Delaware – which means they must be released as quickly as possible if caught – and must not be removed from the water when releasing them.
