Seaford Man Charged with 5th Offense DUI

A Seaford man has been charged after he was spotted Saturday night dragging a “no parking” state highway sign under the passenger side rear tire of his pickup. Delaware State Police stopped the truck and contacted the driver, 48 year old Shawn Wingate. Troopers detected an odor of alcohol and began a DUI investigation – and learned that Wingate had four previous DUI convictions. Wingate is charged with 5th offense DUI, leaving the scene of a property collision accident and other offenses. He’s being held at SCI on a secured bond.
