School Resource Officer at Indian River High School Arrests Student Found with Knives

An 18-year-old Indian River High School student has been arrested after two knives were located in his backpack this morning. According to Delaware State Police, at about 9:00 this morning, school staff notified the School Resource Officer that they found a vape pen with suspected THC and two folding knives after searching the student’s backpack. The student was removed from the school and turned over to the custody of a parent. No threats were made, and no students or staff were harmed. The student later turned himself in at Troop 4, where he was charged with Possession of a Weapon in a Safe School Zone, which is a felony, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon–also a felony, and Possession of Marijuana. The student was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released after posting an over $2,000 secured bond. He was also issued a no contact order with the Indian River School District.
