On Saturday, October 27 from 10:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m, many local and state police agencies and health departments will take part in the Drug Enforcement Agency鈥檚 (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Safe disposal of unwanted or expired medication is critical to our community. According to the DEA鈥檚 website, a 2016 National Survey on Drug Use and Health cited that 6.2 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet. Community members, friends and family are urged to take advantage of this event, gather any unused or unwanted prescription drugs and visit their nearest drop off site. Individuals from across the nation can find location sites nearest them by visiting: https://takebackday.dea.gov/.
