UPDATED: Salisbury Middle School Student to Compete in Scripps National Spelling Bee
Following the 7th annual Maryland Eastern Shore Spelling Bee over the weekend at University of Maryland Eastern Shore, a Salisbury Middle School student will compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. this May.
6th Grader Austin Loar beat out students from across the Lower Shore, with Delmar Elementary’s Praneeth Galigutte was declared runner up.
Loar will represent Dorchester, Somerset, Worcester and Wicomico Counties in the national competition.
The Scripps Spelling Bee takes place May 26 through May 31 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, just outside of the nation’s capital.
UPDATED:聽 Delaware spellers from across the state will compete on Saturday, March 16th at St. Mark’s High School in Wilmington to determine who will represent the First State in at the Scripps National Spelling Bee at the end of May.聽 Registration begins at 8:30am on the 16th – and the spelling begins at 9am.
