A Salisbury man has been sentenced to life in prison for murder. This was a retrial for 30 year old Delonte Bryant after the Maryland Appellate Court vacated the original jury verdict and ordered a new trial. Bryant was found guilty after a three-day trial this past June of 1st degree murder, firearms and other related offenses. The sentences on the other counts were either legally merged or made concurrent to the life sentence. Bryant was previously convicted of the same crimes in August of 2018 – and given the same sentence. The sentence the Court could impose after a retrial was limited by statute to be no greater than that imposed after the first trial.

Court records show Bryant approached his victim, 21 year old Dommeir Deshields, on August 3, 2015 – in the road at Anne and Railroad Avenue in Salisbury and shot him multiple times. Deshields died later that day at PRMC in Salisbury.
