Salisbury Man Sentenced to 83 Years in Prison for 2nd Degree Murder
A Salisbury man has been sentenced to 83 years in prison for 2nd degree murder and other offenses. Wicomico County Circuit Court Judge Matthew Maciarello sentenced 39 year old Dionte Dutton after a jury convicted him last May of 2nd degree murder, 1st and 2nd degree assault, reckless endangerment, use of a handgun in the commission of a crime of violence, illegal possession of a regulated firearm and wear/carry/transport handgun in vehicle.
Court records show that in June of 2017 Dutton was involved in a minor confrontation with Jaquanta Walton at the VFW in Salisbury. Dutton contacted an associate, Lee Braboy, to come to the VFW with a firearm, then Dutton in Braboy’s vehicle began stalking Walton who was on foot outside the VFW. Braboy got out of the car and as Dutton began to drive off, Braboy rounded the front of the building and walked up to Walton and shot him once in the chest before leaving on foot. Dutton was convicted in 2019, but granted a new trial on appeal. Braboy was convicted of 1st degree murder and other charges in 2019 and is currently serving multiple life sentences.
