Salisbury man convicted of sexual abuse of a minor

A Salisbury man has been found guilty of sexual abuse of a minor following a trial in Wicomico County.
On Wednesday, a jury found 37-year-old Joseph Townsend guilty on two counts of sex abuse of a minor by household or family member, and three counts of third degree sexual offense.
According to the prosecution, between December 2015 and May 2019, Townsend sexually assaulted two victims, both under the age of 16.
Sentencing for Townsend has been postponed pending a mandatory pre-sentence investigation and mental health evaluation.
