Route 9 east of Georgetown has reopened following a construction project that lasted nearly three weeks.

According to DelDOT, the portion of Route 9 / East Market Street between Sand Hill Road and Rogers Avenue opened to traffic one day earlier than originally projected. Route 9 in that area closed May 1st as part of the Georgetown East Gateway Improvements Project

The Airport Road leg of the intersection is scheduled to close through the summer starting June 12th, but DelDOT said it will reopen before the start of the new school year at Sussex Academy. A new and improved signalized intersection will be operational.

The entire project should be completed by June 7th, 2022.
