Route 24 Corridor is one of the few major east/west connector roads for local and beach traffic moving across the state. There are multiple Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) sites throughout the corridor, as is with the section included in this project. The massive growth in permanent residents and beach goers alike has degraded the level of service to unacceptable levels and as such the Department is committed to improving the roadway facilities.

DelDOT announces to motorists that advance utility work will begin to relocate the existing utilities for the Route 1 and Route 16 Grade Separated Intersection Project.

The Route 1 and Route 16 Grade Separated Intersection Project will enhance the capacity and safety of the Route 1 corridor.

Motorists should anticipate minor lane shifts and or shoulder closures on Route 1 and Route 16.
