Ribbon Cut on Rehoboth’s Ocean Outfall
June 16, 2018
Rehoboth Beach officials cut the ribbon on the now concluded Ocean Outfall project Friday morning. The ocean outfall was placed in service at the end of May as was the restoration of Deauville Beach and the parking area. The project removed the discharge of treated wastewater from the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal to an ocean outfall pipe after a DNREC regulation from 1998 ordered the elimination of point source discharges. The project had problems throughout its conception and construction, but is now live and discharging treated wastewater into the Atlantic Ocean.
