Reported Flu Deaths in Delaware Continue to Rise
February 11, 2019
The Delaware State Health Department has reported additional cases of the flu that have turned deadly, with reported deaths now at 11 people. That surpasses last year’s total of 10 deaths from the flu, and it is still relatively early in the season.
The Department’s statistics also show just over two thousand confirmed cases of the flu so far, with 356 hospitalizations. However, they stress those numbers are likely higher because not everyone who contracts the flu sees a doctor or has tests conducted.
Doctors are still urging Delawareans to practice good hygiene and to get a flu shot. Officials say the shot still can be effective at this point in the season.
