Rehoboth Commissioners Discuss US Wind Community Benefits Agreement
The Rehoboth Beach Commissioners discussed the possibility of signing onto a Community Benefits Agreement between US Wind and the City of Rehoboth Beach. This agreement would bring a stream of annual payments over a 20-year period worth $2-million. Delaware Development Manager for US Wind, Mike Dunmyer, spoke to the Commissioners about the agreement ā as well as about the negotiations that the Governor has begun with US Wind, which Dunmyer likened to a real estate deal. The Commissioners had a lot of questions for Dunmyer and also heard a few comments from residents in attendance at City Hall.
The towns involved in the Community Benefits agreement are Rehoboth Beach, Henlopen Acres, Dewey Beach, Bethany Beach and South Bethany. Lewes and Fenwick Island have opted out of the agreement.
Rehoboth Beach Commissioners could vote on the agreement at the next regular meeting, which is Friday, January 19th.
