Preston Man Charged with False Statement to Police

A Preston man has been charged with five counts of false statement to a police officer and one count of obstructing and hindering a police officer. Easton Police met with 23 year old Christian Murphy on July 7^th in reference to an armed robbery the night before. Murphy told police he was walking to his vehicle in the Aldi parking lot when a man with a gun approached him and took his money. Detectives began an investigation looking at surveillance video from local businesses and discovered the armed robbery never happened.

Easton Police served a criminal summons on Murphy on Thursday, July 13th.
