UPDATE: Power Outages in the Area
UPDATED 1-10-24 11 a.m.–As of about 11:00 a.m., Delmarva Power reports that service has been restored for approximately 48,000 customers following last night鈥檚 storm. Crews are working around the clock until all customers have electric service. Due to the extensive impact of this storm, ETRs are currently suspended and will be updated as crews assess damage. Wind gusts this afternoon may cause additional outages, and they are monitoring conditions closely. Delaware Electric Cooperative is reporting that over 318 members are without service.
UPDATED-1-10-24; 8:05 a.m. –As of 8:05 a.m., Delmarva Power is reporting that over 10,300 customers are without power with more than 480 active outages. Delaware Electric Cooperative reports that plenty of work still needs to be done, but that they have made much progress in restoring power to members. As of 8:30 a.m., Delaware Electric Cooperative reports that the team had a very busy night working to restore power to more than 10,000 members. Currently, they have about 1,300 members without power. Their entire team, along with contract crews, hope to restore power to all members by this evening. DEC calls the severe weather event last night one of the worst storms they’ve seen in a while.

As of about 10:30 this evening, Delmarva Power reported nearly 30,000 customers were without power with over 700 active outages. Meanwhile Delaware Electric Cooperative reports a lot of downed trees and damage to their lines. Just before 10 p.m., DEC reported over 7000 members were without power. As severe weather moves across the area, crews are working as quickly but also as safely as possible to restore power.
