Police Conduct Alcohol Compliance Checks in Ocean City

The Ocean City Police Department and Worcester County Sheriff’s Office have announced plans to conduct alcohol compliance checks throughout the month of June.

The enforcement will take place at bars, restaurants and other alcohol retailers throughout the resort town. Law enforcement officials say the goal of the operation is to ensure employees of businesses that provide alcohol are making a “concerted effort” to avoid selling to individuals under the age of 21. Personnel under the age of 21, accompanied by plain clothed law enforcement officers will visit bars, restaurants and alcohol retailers attempting to purchase alcohol.

The OCPD and WCSO reminds all business owners serving alcohol to underage citizens that it is not only illegal but can have a detrimental impact on their business and the underage person involved.
