Police arrest couple, seize over 160 bags of heroin in Rehoboth

A couple was arrested on drug charges after police seized over 160 bags of heroin in Rehoboth.

According to the Delaware State Police Department, around 8 a.m., Tuesday police responded to the Econo Lodge on Coastal Highway in Rehoboth to execute a warrant in reference to 28-year-old Durron E. Jones Jr., of Dagsboro, who was wanted out of Delaware State Police Troop 4 for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and other traffic related charges.

In addition to Durron鈥檚 outstanding warrants, police received information that he was potentially involved drug dealing and was preparing to flee the State.

Troopers spotted Jones and his 25-year-old girlfriend, Chelsea Cooper, of Millsboro leaving the Econo Lodge with their belongings.

As officers approached Jones, he tried to flee on foot but was apprehended.

Police seized 164 bags of heroin (approximately 1.148 grams) and over $100 in suspected drug proceeds.

Jones was charged with Possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, Possesses a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity, Conspiracy Second Degree, Resisting Arrest, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Criminal Mischief, Disorderly Conduct and Possession of Marijuana. He was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $6,251 cash bond.

Cooper was charged with Possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, Possesses a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity, Tampering With Physical Evidence, Conspiracy Second Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia She was arraigned and released on $10,500 unsecured bond.
