March 7, 2018
Emergency rooms across Delaware continue to be swamped with opioid overdoses. The Center for Disease Control examined data from 45 states, concluding visits for suspected opioid overdoses increased 30% nationwide from July 2016 to September 2017. Of 16 states participating in enhanced data surveillance, Delaware had the second highest percentage change, with overdose visits doubling. 75% of those overdoses occurred in New Castle County, 17% in Kent County, and 9% in Sussex.
