On Sunday, Ocean City Police Department officers responded to a report of “tagging” in the downtown area with blue spray paint. During the course of the investigation, patrol officers located the suspect in the area of 4th Street and the Boardwalk. The suspect, 17 year old male from Lutherville-Timonium, MD, was arrested and charged with malicious destruction of property value +$1,000. This case has been referred to the Department of Juvenile Services.

Ocean City Police are also working with police in Bethany Beach after a similar incident Sunday morning on the Bandstand and boardwalk. The Bethany graffiti was discovered by a group out for their morning walk – they notified police of the damage. Bethany public works power-washed the damage later in the morning.

Bethany Beach Police received multiple complaints of graffiti throughout town on Saturday evening. Police say local businesses, private homes and town property was tagged with similar words and symbols. After finding multiple photos of the suspects, social media helped lead to the arrest of two 17-year old suspects from Timonium, MD. Both were arrested, charged and released.
