An Ocean View man was arrested Friday morning in Rehoboth Beach on felony DUI and drug-related charges. A Delaware State Police trooper on patrol around 1am spotted a van parked for an extended period of time at the Wawa on Veterans Way and checked on the driver who appeared to be asleep in the driver’s seat with the van running. After contacting the driver, 44 year old Ian McIntyre the trooper observed signs of impairment and conducted standardized field sobriety tests. The trooper also spotted a straw with a white powdery substance in plain view on the driver’s floor. McIntyre was arrested for DUI and a search of his person turned up 139 bags of heroin, a small amount of methamphetamine, a Psilocybin mushroom bar and drug paraphernalia. A computer check showed he’d been convicted of DUI on two different occasions. McIntyre is charged with multiple offenses:

  • DUI 3rd Offense (Felony)
  • Manufacture/Deliver/Possession with Intent to Deliver Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • Possess/Consume a Controlled or Counterfeit Substance (2 counts)
  • Possession of Drug paraphernalia (3 counts)

He’s being held at SCI in default of an $11,000 secured bond.
