May 12, 2021/
A fire in the Oak Orchard area sent three people to area medical facilities for observation early Wednesday.
According to the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, the blaze was reported with people possibly trapped on Cherokee Avenue in Riverdale Park. Firefighters determined that all occupants were accounted for and out of the home. Firefighters from Lewes and Millsboro also responded, as did paramedics and the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The fire may have started in a burn barrel outside, and burning leaves may have spread the fire to the structure.
The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
