No threat at Delaware State University after reports of active shooter, Dover PD confirms
A ‘security concern’ had social media abuzz with reports of a possible active shooter at Delaware State University; however, WGMD News can confirm that there is no active threat to the institution, according to the Dover Police Department.
Cpl. Mark Hoffman with the Dover Police Department confirmed to WGMD’s Rob Petree that there is no active threat after the department was called to assist DSU’s agency on what came in as a threat of a possible active shooter.
There has been no reports of shots fired, according to Cpl. Hoffman.
“There is NOT an active situation at the moment,” Cpl. Hoffman confirmed. “We are working with several agencies to conduct security sweeps of the campus to ensure the safety of everyone here.”
There was no active shooter on campus, DSU communication officials confirmed.
Some students reported receiving anonymous texts of a potential shooter on campus; therefore, Delaware State Police took precaution to ensure that the campus was safe by locking down the campus to conduct a thorough search of all buildings along with law enforcement partners, State Police, Dover Police and Capital Police.
Further investigation will take place to determine more details. WGMD will have more on this story as it develops.
